Ever wondered what that strange shiny metal thing in the middle of the Elephant roundabout is? Well, its an electricity substation for the North Line Line running underneath. Fittingly the shell is a memorial for Michael Faraday who was born in nearby Newington Butts. He is one of Britain's greatest scientists and recognised as being key to our understanding of electricity and its development as a a source of power.
