The Cuming Museum

This museum is based on the collection of the Cuming family of Southwark. They were fascinated with learning about the world that was becoming more accessible with improvements in transport and Britain Imperial role. Despite this they did not travel but chose instead to collect artefacts brought back to London by explorers and traders. Indeed they managed to amass a diverse array of objects from all parts of the world. This collection along with exhibits on the history of Southwark and Newington Public Library housed in the same building are valuable resources for locals and is well worth popping as you walk along Walworth Road.
